5 Tips to make your home more appealing

Did you know that buyers develop an opinion of your property in less than 15 seconds?

1.      A fresh coat of paint can make the biggest difference, and the best investment you could make. Buyers will respond to the clean and fresh look.  If you can’t paint the whole house, paint the key areas of the home such as the front entry, kitchen and master bathroom.

2.      Light and Bright.  Before showings open blinds, and turn on lights.  This can help the home feel larger and more open.  You should also change out dated light fixtures and replace light bulbs.

3.      A clean home always shows better. Keeping your home clean and really taking time to clean some overlooked areas such as doors, baseboards and windows can make a huge difference.  Really important areas are also the kitchen and bathroom.   Light a candle to create an inviting smell and vacuuming can also help make the showing more successful.

4.      De-clutter and remove storage and junk.  Box up items you don’t need, clean out closets and any storage areas.  Buyers want to see these spaces clean and open.  Junk and clutter makes it hard to see the actual size and space available in your home.  Cleaning out the garage and basement are also good ideas.

5.      Take a good look at your carpet and flooring.  Some buyers will pass on a home based on the carpet or flooring.  If your carpet is really outdated or in poor condition you may consider replacing it.  Sometimes a good carpet cleaning can go a long way.
